| Lisa Carol McNamara was born to Irish parents in 1962 . Her love and need for art started at an early age. She spent several years in the hospital due to a devastating accident involving a riding lawnmower, which led to multiple surgeries. Art became a solace for her. Lisa has studied people’s faces for as long as she can remember. Mostly because she was on her back in the operating room, in traction or in an oxygen tent! All she had to pass the time was a pencil and some paper. Her love of portraiture started at that time.
Lisa is also classically trained in voice and studied flute professionally. Fine arts have played a huge part in her life. Lisa has been painting commissioned murals and portraits since the age of 16.
She moved to Austin, Texas in 1996. She spent several years painting murals for area high schools and residential homes. In 1997 she was voted Texas Martha Stewart in the Austin American Statesman. Both of her children graduated from the University of Texas in Austin.
Lisa left a successful corporate career in 2003 to pursue her art full time and now resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Lisa also designs graphics for textiles and illustrates for children's books.
