Why Paint an Oil Portrait?
Oil portraits have been commissioned to honor those we respect and admire, but especially love. Oil painting portraits have always added an air of tasteful elegance to homes through out time. Years past nobility lined the homes with portraits of their loved ones to the present day when oil paintings command prices in the millions of dollars at auctions. There is nothing quite as luxurious as the look and feel of an oil painting. I strive to capture the likeness and the spirit of my subjects. Each stroke is painted with meticulous attention to detail. Your commissioned oil painting will be finished and varnished with gallery quality varnish and stretched on a gallery quality frame. (Not rolled up in a tube, and then you are left spending time and money to find someone to stretch it and then frame it!)

Why Oil Paint instead of Acrylic Paint?
My reason for choosing Oil as my medium is its proven longevity. Acrylics have not been around that long, therefore we really don't know if they will hold true to its original color 300 years from now. Because I admire the Old Masters as I do, I prefer to paint the way they painted. (as close as we know anyway!) I do paint the Flemish technique on 80% of my work. Especially on my portraits. I have and still play in acrylics from time to time, but I always find myself going back to the oils.
